What Does Diagnosis Of Idopathic Gliotic Changes Mean?

Hi my doctors away and my results from my mri has come back. Could you please explain them to me please. There are multiple small foci of increased signal within the deep white matter, consistent with idiopathic and possibly very early ischaemic gliotic change. There is no evidence of significant lesion. The number and size of these changes are age-appreciate. There is no associated diffusion restriction. The craniocervical junction delineates normally. There is prominence of the suprasellar cistern. Although the pituitary gland can be identified,it is noted to be a relatively thin rim of tissue, simulating but not indicating empty sellar syndrome. The paranasal sinuses are unremarkable and the orbits do not demonstrate significant changes. Conclusion Idiopathic gliotic changes likely. No significant focal lesion

Hello,

These MRI findings could be suggestive of migraine, chronic hypertension or an old brain injury (since birth).

So, there is no reason to panic. If you suffer from arterial hypertension, a better control of your blood pressure values would help prevent the progression of these changes.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka
