Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 6 .month old granddaughter started taking Amoxicillin for an ear infection today for the first time. My daughter just called me and said she just had a very large loose bowel movement with white chunks in it kind of like cottage cheese. She is wondering if this is from the amoxicillin. She also said the baby hasn t been eating much and she had a bottle she was trying to get her to drink and had the bottle in and out of the refrigerator off and on during the day. She does not heat the bottle before giving it to her but is wondering if the cottage cheese looking stuff could be from that.
Hello Thanks for writing to us about your baby's health concern.
Amoxicillin can cause antibiotic-associated diarrhea. I would advise you to stop giving her amoxicillin and consult the concerned pediatrician for some other alternative. I don't think that cld milk could be a reason of stomach upset.
