Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i had a CT scan that indicated. Could you please explain in layman s terms. The spot on my right lung has been there for 7 years. The new spot on my left lung will be monitored for the next 2 years. I have concern in relation to lung cancer and thickening of the left adrenal gland. What all does this mean? I also have Sleep Apena and chronic fatigue. TECHNIQUE Helical chest CT scan with 75 mL of Omnipaque 350 intravenously reviewed on 5-mm reconstructions. FINDINGS Linear infiltrate with bronchiectasis changes seen in the superior segment left lower lobe in a paravertebral location. There are linear infiltrate with atelectasis seen in the right lower lobe medial basilar segment as well. Question endobronchial lesion in the left lower lobe bronchus. No adenopathy. No effusions. Diffuse hepatic steatosis. Thickening of the left adrenal gland without nodularity. Bones demonstrate no focal abnormalities. Impression 1. Linear infiltrate with bronchiectasis in the left lower lobe, with questionable endobronchial lesions. Endoscopy suggested for further evaluation. 2. Linear infiltrate and atelectasis right lower lobe. 3. Diffuse hepatic steatosis.
Diffuse hepatic steatosis means there is some fatty change in your liver. This could be most probably from alcoholism although there might be other changes. If you have the habit of drinking you should stop it immediately since this can progress to a fatty liver and eventually cirrhosis of the liver with many complications associated with it. Right now you have more to worry with your lung condition that is bronchiectasis. Take care.
