What Does Disc Bulging In The Below MRI Report Suggest?

I had a prolapsed disc 2 years ago and have suffered back pain flare ups since I m currently in severe pain (4 weeks so far) my mri result show l5-s1 disc bulging with left paracentral annular fissure causing l5 foraminal stenosis with probable neural impingement of proximal traversing s1 nerve root in the lateral recess - wondered what that means and any suggestions for treatment

Thanks for asking at Healthcare Magic. I read your question and I understand your concern. intervertebral discs are present between vertebrae of vertebral column
Bulging disc occurs because of age related changes, excersize or straining degeneration of annulus fibrosis occurs leading to bulging of nucleus pulposus which exert extra pressure on spinal cord and nerve roots leading to pain and neuropathy also degeneration leads to chemical mediators release causing pain.
Commonest site is L5 S1.
73 percent resolves with medical therapy and excersizes. Rest of them needs surgery in the form disectomy or laminectomy
I would like to advise you to start pain killer like Advil, neuropathic pain reliever like pregabalin, Topical pain killer like voltral emulgel, back muscles excersizes like Prone press ups, upper back extension, floor bridges, transverse abdominis bracing, lumbosacral support. Decrease weight if you are obese. Do regular aerobic excersize how much your pain tolerance permits. Avoid heavy weight lifting, abnormal posture.
If problem still persists consult neurosurgeon.
Hope it helps best.
