Welcome to health care magic.

1.The present condition can be seen as a degenerative changes in the disc - with loss of disc height.
2.Osteophytes are also features of degenerative diseases of the spine - this can be age related or hard / weight bearing work related causes.
3.The disc contains water when due to the degenerative cause this height is loss this condition is seen.
4.Very much recommended to get a MRI scan spine to see the condition of the nerves and the spinal chord - if the disc is involving them, causing the pain.
5.In this case generally treatment includes rest at first place followed by physiotherapy if required. Before that you should do the back exercises that will help in most of the cases.

Good luck.
