Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My sister is in the moderate to severe stage of Alzheimer s and at Christmas we notice that her cheekbones appeared bruised or discolored. Her husband did not say anything about that she had fallen. What would cause this if it was not the result of a fall?
Alzheimer's disease is characterized by progressive social impairment. There is no physiological explanation of the symptom you are talking about. Hence the most likely explanation would be bruise from accidental injury. You should consider arranging for a 24hr help for your sister to assist her in her daily activities and ensuring daily and regular medications.
