What Does Dizziness While Suffering From Hypertension Indicate?

Hi, my blood pressure is running high, I m on blood pressure meds. I m having bouts of light headedness. My last reading was 167/87 but I had a few before that that reached 168/97. Can I get an idea of the risk I m in for a stroke or heart attack? I know I need to make an appointment with my doctor but I just started a new job and am trying to work through this. Thank You very much.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

There is no specific value that a stroke may occur at, but it is more likely with higher values.
Long term high values (blood pressure that is not controlled for months/years) in your range, can also increase the risk as well.

Since you are taking your medication, the high values mean that they may need to be altered.

You can also consider trying the diet called the D.A.S.H diet which is supposed to help persons with high blood pressure

I hope this helps
