What Does Dullness Of Ear Drum Mean?

My little girl has just been in hospital for an operation on her ear to remove foreign objects. The doctor said her ear drum looks dull in his notes. I asked the nurse what this means and she said a doctor would see us soon. We have been discharged and nobody explained what the dullness of her ear drum means

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of dullness of ear drum which could be due to many reasons such as wax buildup , hearing loss , infection of ear , condition like meniere's disease , impacted teeth and temporomandibular joint problem. Need not to worry. You should avoid excessive use of mobile. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may order Ct scan , blood test , and examination with otoscope . Doctor may prescribe stronger antibiotics , clean wax , prescribe supplement like ginkgo biloba. You should avoid pricking ear with any sharp object.
