What Does Elevated Levels Of WBC, Eosinophils And Basophils In Blood Indicate?
I am in canada. I took my son into the walk in clinic after having stomach pains and not eating. The first blood work showed his wbc elevated, ( eosiniphils, basophils, and mycotyes). They were just over the normal range. He had it done again a week later. His wbc is triple the normal. His eosiniphils are 7x normal and his basophils are 6x normal and his myocytes are 3x normal. The doc is re doing the blood work on Monday. But in the mean time I'm not sure what to think or what it could be.
Hi, I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns. Elevated levels of WBC( White Blood Cells ) is a common feature of acute infections like simple gastroenteritis( which might be the reason for his abdominal pain) or even common cold. I see many similar scenario in my clinic. As a treating physician when such a lab result come to me,I would put him on course of antibiotics to tackle the infection and repeat the tests probably after a week.If we still get a very high value one more retest is done probably from another laboratory.Still the same results we have to do some investigations like bone marrow examination to rule out rare conditions like leukemia. In your case,I don't find anything serious and your result will revert to normal within a couple of weeks.
Hope this information helps. Regards. Dr.Shinas Hussain
