Hi,
An
enlarged heart, also known as cardiomegaly, refers to a condition in which the heart is larger than its normal size. This may be due to various reasons, such as
high blood pressure, heart valve problems, heart muscle disease (
cardiomyopathy), or other conditions that affect the heart.
When the heart is enlarged, it may not pump blood as effectively as it should, which can lead to symptoms such as
shortness of breath, fatigue, dizziness, and swelling in the legs and feet. It can also increase the risk of heart failure, arrhythmias (abnormal heart rhythms), and other complications.
In your case, if the abnormality was detected on the right side of the heart, it may be due to the previous
open-heart surgery or other underlying conditions that affect the right side of the heart. Treatment for an enlarged heart depends on the underlying cause and may include medications, lifestyle changes (such as exercise and diet modifications), and sometimes surgery.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
