What Does Episodes Of Dizziness And Chills In A Child Indicate?
What could these episodes mean? My 13 year old grandson has had 3 bouts in the last 2 months of seeing black for a few seconds, feeling dizzy and having chills at the same time. The most recent episode was yesterday. Prior to that he was having severe headaches so he was taken to the ER. Follow-up with his PCP resulted in being referred`to an opthamlogist who said that his eyes are normal. MRI results showed nothing abnormal.

The symptoms mentioned by you make me think of the following differential diagnosis.
1) Migraine headaches with aura
2) Focal seizures
3) Absence seizures
As the ophthalmology examination is normal, please take him to a neuro physician. In the aforementioned conditions, mostly the MRI is normal. Please see a neurologist or a pediatrician as soon as possible.
