What Does Erythema In Duodenum In EGD Report Suggest?
EGD done today. Following was found:
Erythema in the 2nd part of the duodenum (biopsy)
Erythema and granularity in the antrum compatible with bile reflux gastritis (biopsy)
Spot in the duodenal bulb (biopsy)
Retained fluids in stomach, Small hiatal hernia
Grade A esophagitis in the gastoesophageal junction (biopsy).
Performed to find the source of anemia -iron deficiency ( I have thalessemia minor). I have had my gallbladder removed a few yrs. ago as well. I assume I will be taking acid reducers for long time?

Hi, Thanks for asking. Looking at the results, my opinion is as follows: 1. Erythema means redness or ongoing inflammation and it could be due to gastritis. - biopsy taken from that location 2. erythema with granularity indicates healing or continuing inflammation or damage with granulation tissue formation. - biopsy taken from there too. 3. other reports indicate mild acid induced damage at various location
Evaluation is being done for bleeding and no evidence is found at present.
Yes you will taking antacids an other medications for a short while.
