General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

E.coli is gram-negative bacteria, a common pathogen causing urinary tract infection.

* The colony count of 1 lac unit is significant clinically and should be handled precisely to avoid secondary complications as pyelonephritis or others.
- In my clinic, I recommend intravenous antibiotics with 3rd generation cephalosporins as ceftriaxone or else
- Supportive intravenous fluids if oral intake is not sufficient.
- Urinary alkaliser as potassium citrate or cranberry sachets
- Anti-inflammatory medications with trypsin and chymotrypsin molecules
- Ultrasound of the abdomen & pelvis as per the clinical need
- Follow up urine microscopy after 5 days of proper medications.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
