What Does 'faint Nodular Opacity In Upper Right Apex' Indicate?
I had a chest scan done at the VA a couple months ago. I was looking over the files online - they were checking for asthma, which they found - and there was a note on the file which I don't understand It says "faint nodular opacity in upper right apex - recheck six weeks". Well they never said a word and they never rechecked.
If I was working with a report of my patient that reads as such then I'll think as follows: Faint nodular opacity is likely an incidental finding on the scan. This could be a benign nodule or a malignancy (if the radiologist was highly suspicious for a malignancy, then it'd have probably been mentioned to you). Talk with your PCP, if they're concerned, a follow up chest X-ray would help; typically in 3-6months.
I'd advise my patient to quit smoking (if they are) Hope this helps.
