What Does Fat Globules And Presence Of Bacteria From Stool Test Indicate?
My daughter 2 yrs old is saying she is having stomach pain, 2 days before she had fever, loose motion and vomiting, now fever and all is gone, but still she is having stomach pain. We went took her stool test and it is saying FAT GLOBULES present and BACTERIA present (1+). What is this indicate? Thanks in advance
Can you mention what bacteria was detected? Was it microscopy or culture? Stool normally contains many bacteria that are inhabitants of intestine and helps in digestion (commensals). So all bacteria in stools are not pathogens.
This we consider significant, if it is pathogenic bacteria like shigella and is causing symptoms(fever, loose stools, abdominal pain). Such cases needs antibiotic treatment. Fat globules in stool suggests incomplete digestion, and can be there for few days after a diarrhea. If she do not have fever or loos stools now, and the stool was not blood stained, just try giving paracetamol for 3 days for pain. If not getting down by then, kindly discuss with your pediatrician for further evaluation.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
