What Does Fibrocalcific Opacities & Fibrosis Suggest?
hi good day! this ann, 28 years old. last year my xray result seen ptb undetermined activity on upper left lobe of my lung and this year. my xray result show fibrocalcific opacities on the upper left lobe and fibrosis on the upper right lobe. what does this mean?
Hello and welcome to HCM, The interpretation of the X-ray chest report is as follows: The uper left lobe is showing fibro-calcific opacities. This implies that there is evidence of fibrosis and calcification in the left upper left lobe. Fibrosis and calcification is commonly seen in healed tuberculosis. Healed tuberculosis can cause calcification of the lymph nodes and fibrosis of the lung parenchyma. Fibrosis of right upper lobe also suggest healed infection most probably tuberculosis.
In case you have had previous exposure to tuberculosis, this is sequelae to the infection.
Follow up X-rays may be required to look for the disappearance of these opacities.
Hi, its sign of healing after tuberculosis. tuberculosis is chronic granulomatous disease, which is healed by fibrosis and calcification. if you have completed the course of AKT, and no any symptoms then no need to worry. its very common, if you have still any symptoms then go to the consultant and take treatment accordingly. thanks for using health care magic.
