Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I have been having these symptoms for about 2 months. I had an ultrasound done thinking it was my gallbladder. It came back & said something was wrong with my liver & could be fibrosis or hepatitis. What is fibrosis? I m not going to pay for this. Thanks
Hello and welcome to HCM, Fibrosis of liver implies accumulation of fibrous tissue in liver which is abnormal. Hepatitis is inflammation of liver tissue which can occur due to viral infection, drugs, toxins etc. Hepatitis is followed by fibrosis and fibrosis is a permanent and irreversible change. Fibrosis compromises the function of liver. Alcohol is most common cause of hepatitis and fibrosis. I suggest you to consult a gastroenterologist for clinical assessment and relevant investigations like liver function tests for diagnosis of the condition. management can be planned after clinical assessment and investigations.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
