What Does Fluid And Vessels In The Endometrium Indicate?
Hello, I last had my menstrual cycle around christmas and have not had another since. I am in an ultrasound class where we practice on eachother and every week its looking different. one week the endometrium looked normal and thick ready for a period. The next week we could barely see it because it looked blurry or obscured. Today there was fluid in the cul de sac and vessels were present. The endometrium measured about 4cm. I do not have any obvious pregnancy symptoms. Is this normal? Or is it indicative of a preparation for pregnancy?
Hello and welcome to HCM, The initial ultrasound showed that the endometrium is thick and ready for period. This stage is probably the secretory phase. The next week, obscured and blurred endometrium suggests that menstruation has set in. Fluid in cul-de-sac can occur during menstruation, ovulation, chronic pelvic inflammatory diseases etc. During pregnancy, the endometrium increases in thickness progressively and there is evidence of formation of gestational sac.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
