What Does Foul Odour From The Navel Indicate?
I recently noticed that my belly button was smelling weird so i washed it out with soap and water. That didn t eliminate the smell at all. The next morning i noticed a pink fleshy thing in my belly button and puss or something all around my belly button. Will this eventually go away or should i see a doctor about it?

I can understand you concern.
I advice the patient as:
1. Oozing or secretions from belly button or umbilicus can be because of water clogging after taking bath. If we do not dry it thoroughly, moisture, dead skin, dust, etc collect and may cause infection.
2. The pink eruption may be a granuloma . It is a remnant of umbilical cord, which got infected now.
2. Please clean the place with a earbud using betadine or spirit. Please dry it thoroughly. Please use Silver Nitrate ointment in small quantity for application.
3. If the granuloma is small, generally it resolves with home treatment,but of significant size, you should consult a local physician for proper dressing and other treatment.
The problem is not very serious, but if you cannot access the area, it is advisable to consult local physician. It may need dressing for 4-5 days.
