What Does Gram Positive Cocci On Sputum Culture Test Indicate?
My daughters lab results come back. It says gram positive cocci,manylower respiratory culture. Result 1 Neisseria cinerea heavy growth result 2 routine respiratory flora moderate growth. Can you tell me about this? We both have been exposed to heavy mold exposure, not sure if it could stem from the exposure. thank you

In the classical sense, six gram-positive genera are typically pathogenic in humans. Two of these, Streptococcus and Staphylococcus, are cocci (sphere-shaped).
The remaining organisms are bacilli (rod-shaped) and can be subdivided based on their ability to form spores.
So she is having a gram-positive infection of the respiratory tract and cocci have been isolated from her sputum. Visit your pulmonologist.
