What Does Grey Area During Diagnosis Of Mycosis Fungoides–type T-cell Lymphoma Indicate?
My doc said there are grey areas when diagnosing t cell lymphoma specifically mycosis fu ngoides. I dont have a positive diagnosis but my biopsy came back with 2 pages of info my doc described as cya info that s inconclusive. I m terrified that I have this even tho he said that was not a diagnosis. I m hoping if I have some info about the gray areas I may be comforted that I probably don t have this
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Diagnosis of mycosis fungoides would need a skin biopsy with a lymph node biopsy. They will have to run IHC markers on ur specimen to confirm the diagnosis. Bone marrow biopsy is needed too after the diagnosis to check for staging. Also a whole body pet scan gives us the area of involvement.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pratik
