What Does Headaches After A Concussion Indicate?

My 9 year old son just got sent home for possible concussion. Hit the back of his head on hard grass at school after being flipped forward, feet over head, playing tag football. He s tired, walking different than normal, pupil in left eye not reacting to light. Right pupil has normal reaction. Physical light touch isn t tolerated on back of his head. Mild headache across forehead. Do I need to take him to Doctor/urgent care? Just watch for any further changes? Thank you, Loni

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
He has a brain trauma that should not be neglected given fact that his head is too painful and right pupil areactive.I will suggest you see the Doctor immediately for examination and a brain CT scan to exclude any serious intracranial issues. If serious brain issues like intracranial hemmorrhage excluded, pain drugs(like acclofenac, tramadol..), rest/sleep will do.
Hope this will help
Best regards
