Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I was recently diagnosed with a vaginal bacterial infection. I was prescribed pills to take twice a day for three weeks. My symptoms consisted of heavy discharge and a very uncomforting odor. I have now finished the prescription as of two days ago, but I still have a bit of discharge. It is not heavy and there is no odor, but the pills had side effects that said they may cause a yeast infection? I do not have itching or burning, just discharge. I m not sure what it is, can you help me?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. Your problem can be due to yeast infection after using antibiotic pills. A swab test will be helpful to rule out the condition. For such condition I would recommend using clotrimazole cream ( monistat ) locally or clotrimazole vaginal tab for application. Avoid using soaps and irritants to wash the area and instead you can use saline or warm water. You can also use intimate wash regularly to normalize vaginal bacterial flora and PH which will be helpful to resist such infections. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
