What Does Heavy Bleeding When On Lomedia 24 Fe Suggest?
Hello, I started taking Lomedia 24 Fe (Birth control) since I was experiencing heavier than normal periods and my OBGYN prescribed it for me in the hopes that the pill will control my period. I am on the second week of the second pack of these pills. since I have been on these pills my period last month was actually heavier than it ever was before getting on the pill and now I have consistently bleeding since April 20th and today is May 7th. Some days the bleeding is heavier than others. Is this normal? I have spoken to my OBGYN and I was told just be patient. I am running out of patience. I have never bled this many days in a row. Is this normal? Can you help?
As far as I know, Lomedia 24 Fe is not prescribed in undiagnosed or very heavy uterine bleeding. I can see that your bleeding hasn't controlled and moreover it got increased. Kindly consult another gynecologist in this regard as soon as possible. My advise is to stop the drug immediately. Though breakthrough bleeding and spotting are known adverse effects of Lomedia, heavy uterine bleeding is not common.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
