Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I have had my period for about 6 weeks now, and within the last week I have had a very heavy flow resulting in my having to change a super plus tampon every hour as well as wear a pad. I have never had this before. I have a MD appt this week, worried I may be losing too much blood. This is starting to affect me being able to work my shifts as a nurse. What could be the probable cause, do you think I have a serious medical problem?
Heavy flow may be caused by stress, hormonal imbalance, and organic lesions at the uterus. Thus, first you should do an U/S of the pelvis and hormonal level.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Salah Saad Shoman, Internal Medicine Specialist
