Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Pus cells in my urine sample are high. 20-40 by WBC/HPF. Other tests the reports show + + + or plenty. How bad it is? The high count continues despite heavy antibiotics. I had a pyeloplasty in November 2013. High pus cells came within a week of surgery and are not going away. Thebacterial is Pseudomenas thanks
The pus cells in the urine are due to bacterial infection of the cells of the urethra to kidneys killing the lining of the tract.
It's like a bacterial infection of any part of the skin where there is pus produced. Here the pus cells will flow in the urine and are not observed through the naked eye.
It would be better to get a Urine culture done to know the causative organism and the antibiotics it is sensitive to. You can see a Urologist with the report and he/she will guide you with the treatment.
Consume plenty of water and maintain the hygiene of the area as this will reduce and prevent any further infections.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
