Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was recently hospitalized with a high fever and told one of the blood tests showed high probability of infection, but the ER doc was unable to identify the source of the infection. Spent 2 1/2 days in hospital on IV antibiotics. Fever broke and all other tests were negative, except a bit low in magnesium. Follow with my PCP led to further blood tests, specifically for Epstein Barr virus, which showed that I have had/or have the virus. Still unsure of this and need to call for clarification. After returning home from hospital with instructions to drink plenty of water and sleep as much as I could. I rested well for a week and felt better, picked up my normal activities (or most of them) and now feel awful again. What s going on?
these symptoms of high fever you mentioned refer to having underlying disease caused by bacterial infection or viral infection ....you need not to worry as the most common cause is viral infection and so we dont need tobe stressed and just follow these simple steps.....you should take antipyretics and drink multiple fluids will help then improvement will occur gradually if the cause is viral EBV indicated so treatment with antiviral drugs will help if symptoms persist or get worse we suggest that there is bacterial infection and antibiotic indicate now you should do some investigations to detect cause as widal test for typhoid ,urine culture for possibility of uti ,blood test if any other symptom you feel you should examine that with your doctor consultation as it may help alot.....
stress and anxiety can cause increase these symptoms
wish you healthy life
