Hi,

Mitral valve prolapse (MVP) is a condition where the valve between the left atrium and left ventricle of the heart does not close properly. This can lead to backflow of blood into the left atrium, causing a variety of symptoms such as palpitations, chest pain, shortness of breath, and fatigue.

One common symptom of MVP is a rapid or irregular heartbeat, which can be caused by several factors. For example, stress, anxiety, caffeine, and certain medications can all cause an increase in heart rate.

In your case, a resting pulse rate of 106 is higher than normal and could be a sign of several issues. It could be related to your MVP, as the condition can sometimes cause arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat). However, it could also be due to other factors such as stress, anxiety, or medications.

It's important to follow up with your healthcare provider to evaluate the cause of your increased pulse rate. They may recommend monitoring your heart rate at home and keeping a diary of any symptoms you experience. Depending on the severity of your symptoms, they may also recommend further testing such as an electrocardiogram (ECG) or a stress test to evaluate your heart function.

In general, it's important to maintain a healthy lifestyle to help manage MVP and other heart conditions. This may include regular exercise, a healthy diet, stress reduction techniques, and avoiding triggers such as caffeine and alcohol. Additionally, it's important to follow your healthcare provider's recommendations for managing your condition and taking any prescribed medications as directed.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
