What Does Hyperinflation Of Both Lungs Mean?

there is hyperinflation of both lungs.the heart is normal in size and shape.the trachea is at the midline.both hemidiaphragms are depressed. the osseous thoratic cage showed demineralization of the bones. conclusions hyperaeration of both lungs and osteoporosis ..doc what do you mean this? please help my father.

hyperinflation of lungs are seen in emphysema which is a part of copd a disease caused by smoking
when the terminal parts of lungs which help in breathing get enlarged with air in them collectively this is called as emphysema
this is a phenomenon that in turn causes lung destruction

it can be diagnosed by a chest X-ray and a spirometry and accordingly can be staged

as per staging medications can be started to control symptoms
mostly inhaled puffs are enough to control the symptoms
