What Does Hypodensity In Left Liver Lobe Probably Chronic Mean?

I just got to looking at a radiology report from a 4 wheeler accident in December. Well I just now read the reports as I figured they were frivolous. Anyways under liver it says this "Tiny hypodensity in the left lobe of the liver most probably chronic finding such as a small cyst. Appearance is not typical of trauma". Not sure what this all means but "most probably chronic" scares me!

Welcome to Health care magic.

1.Your ultrasound reports says there is a tiny hypo density in the left lobe of the liver. Hypo density seems to be chronic ( long standing ) as it is well defined as a cyst. ( chronic cause - means long standing pathology)
2.Where as if its an acute process - it will be seen as hypo density with irregular collection / bleed. Anechoic collection in case of injury to any ducts extravasation - but its not seen in your case.
3.As trauma has its linear - on laceration, irregular collection.
4.In this case i would suggest to get a computer tomography for definitive evaluation of the left lobe lesion.
5.If not then would recommend a repeat followup scan in couple of weeks.
Hope it helps you. Wish you a good health.
6.If you are not symptomatic wait and have a followup ultrasound - if requires cross-sectional study.

Anything to ask ? do not hesitate. Thank you.
