What Does Hypoxic-ischemic Encephalopathy In A Coma Patient Mean?

Hi my name is deanna. My son went into cardiac arrest Aug 26 2016. Is still currently in coma. A month ago I went to go see him and his eyes were very little open still unresponsive and yesterday I went to see him and his eyes were half open still unresponsive. He was diagnosed with hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy can u tell me what this might mean

Hi , It is very sad to tell you the bad prognosis of hypoxic ischemic enceplalopathy.
As your son had cardiac arrest which caused impaired blood supply to brain leading to hypoxic damage to brain .
Generally patients go into deep coma if it is very extensive .
Chances of recovery are very less .Thanks
