Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does Inflammation Around A Shingles Vaccination Shot Site Indicate?
I got a Shingles vaccine on Friday. It was painless to get. However, the inflammation site has turned red, slightly swollen, hot, and is enlarging slowly, it seems. It is now about the size of a Dove soap bar (and same oval shape). Is that within the realm of normal? I am sorry. I wasn t aware this was a fee process. I can call an insurance nurse. I just asked you because I was reading about it on WebMD. Thanks, and again, my apologies.
Common side effects of the shinglesvaccine, which occur in at least 1 in 10 people, are: 1. A headache 2. Redness, pain, swelling, itching, warmth and bruising at the injection site. Use cold compress every half-an-hourly. Use anti-inflammatory drugs. If symptoms not improved, please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
