What Does It Mean By The Appearance Suggests Underlying Adenomyosis In A Pelvic Ultrasound Report?

Just got a pelvic ultrasound and I was hoping you could explain what this means on my report: "inhomogenous uterus with 'streak artifacts', The appearance suggests underkying adenomyosis . Scattered uterine calcifications are noted, most likely atheroscelerotic"

welcome to Health care magic.
1.Adenomysis is called when the uterine muscle shows non homogeneous ( irregular echoes due to irregularities in the uterine muscle layers)
2.At the same time the layer differentiation is lost, mostly its bulky.
3.Calcifications in your case represents long standing uterine pathology. And presence of hypertension vascular calcification is suspected in your case - atherosclerotic changes.
4.Presenting symptoms could be dull pain with excessive bleed, some time with out bleed.
5.Depending on age and medical condition - hysterectomy is treatment of choice.
Hope it helps you. Wish you a good health.
