What Does It Mean By White Matter Periventricular Changes Likely Due To Ischemia In An MRI Report?
My mom is in a diabetic coma. An MRI showed significant small vessel ?white matter periventricular changes likely due to ischemia. No evidence of restricted diffusion to suggest the presence of acute ischemia or acute infarction. What does that all mean
The MRI shows that there are pre existing changes in her brain near the ventricles (periventricular white matter). This is not a concern right now as it shows that the brain supply to her brain is showing changes due to aging and not because of a stroke. The diabetic coma is causing her problems and that must be corrected slowly.
