Hallow dear,
I must know your age and marital history with the number of children you have if you want to have a complete advice from me. You may ask me direct question.
Meanwhile, I would say, you are lucky to have your uterus still anteverted in spite of a large
fibroid in the posterior wall.
In majority of the women, the uterus is bending forwards. This position of the uterus is referred to as anteveted uterus. In some women naturally while in others due to some infection adhesions or tumours in the uterus, the uterus bends backwards. This position is referred to as
retroverted uterus.
You have got fairly large tumour in the muscle of the back wall of the uterus and also one more smaller than that in the front wall of the uterus. The lining of the uterus is 9 mm thick.
For fibroids, surgery is the only treatment. However, there are two options - removal of tumours only or removal of uterus with the tumours. Removal of only tumours is more major surgery that removing the uterus with the tumours. Either of these surgeries can be performed either through telescope or by opening the abdomen.
If not removed, these fibroids will continue to grow in size and may cause problems in your health. You may have profuse bleeding during
menstruation and also
intermenstrual bleeding. They may hinder the
pregnancy also. In 30% of the cases, fibroids and
endometrial cancer co-exist.
If you are desirous of pregnancy, you may opt for removal of the tumours otherwise better get the uterus removed.
Before removing the uterus, please get the lining of the uterus examined to rule out any possibility of endometrial cancer.
Ultrasonography has shown that endometrium is not thick, so the chances are less, still it is better to rule out.
I am sure, I have guided you rightly and you will take correct decision of surgery.
