What Does Itching In The Forearm Indicate?

I have an over the top itching on my forearm near elbow. I thought it was a bite or sting but no visable mark. If I scratch it and I really want to it is painful and seems to move further on arm . My skin is crawling and I feel anxious. I have been iceing it but it only last for a short time. Should I do more? I have had this for a few days

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Itching in the elbow and nape of neck may be due k something called seborrhic dermatitis. It’s a kind of fungal infection and you can apply topical anti fungal ointments like clotrimazole over the affected site. You can also take antihistamines like pheneramine for symptomatic relief. Keep the area dry and do not apply oils to the elbow. If symptoms persist, better to consult a dermatologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
