Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had stitches after a removal of a gland cyst of some sort on the inside of my lip. The stitches have knots which tests my tolorance as its hard to eat and they poke me. However, the problem is that the tip of my tongue itches that is next to the stitches. Never heard of that. My tongue never felt itchy before. Is this normal?
It looks like due to continuous irritation of the tongue due to touching the stitches there is inflammation and itchy sensation..
It will gradually get better once the stitches will be removed..
So my suggestion is to as of now apply Lidocaine gel over the tongue tip for relief.. Along with it do warm saline gargles.. You can also do cool compresses over the tongue tip.. Avoid touching the stitches with the tongue tip to avoid further irritation..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
