What Does Jowls Bell In Blood Suggest?

We saw our oncologist today and another lab (not his) did not list something in the report on the blood called jowls bell or something that sounded like that, in the blood. My wife had a splenectomy and he thought it was important to know this from the blood test. I wanted to check this out on the web but was unclear as to the spelling to check this. Please advise. Thanks.

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Splenectomy is followed by certain blood changes especially red blood cell modification.
Howell Jolly body is one of the red cell inclusions which represent remnant of nuclear material.
These cells are left in circulation after splenectomy.
Thus, there in nothing serious about the Howel Jolly bodies.
The thing to take care after splenectomy is prevention of infection by encapsulated bacteria like Streptococcus for Vaccination is available against these bacteria.

Thanks and take care
