What Does Kidney-mild Bilateral Renal Cortical Scarring,mostly In Lateral Left Kidney Mean?

can you please explain what this all means?kidney-mild bilateral renal cortical sacrring,mostly in lateral left kidney. uterus is enlarged and heterogeneous. Ovaries are unremarkable with aa corpus luteum in right ovary.Physiologic fluid is present the posterior cul de sac.

Thanks for writing in.

Cortical scarring in kidneys is due to response of the kidney to injury. Scarring can occur because of conditions like hypertension, bacterial infection, auto immune infection, physical injury, due to medications, due to chronic disease conditions, obstruction to passage of urine, arterial disease and developmental reasons. This is not a serious condition by itself but has to be assessed in the presence of other conditions which is causing it.
