What Does Knee Pain When Diagnosed With Chronic Kidney Disease Indicate?
Sir, my father is 55years old. Suffering from T2DM and CKD 3rd stage. Right now he is getting treatment from Aiims new Delhi. From few days he is having pain in his left side of kidney as well as both of his knees. What should I do now? Plz send me ur contact details if possible.
In diabetic patients kidneys is one of the organs that get affected during the course of the disease. As you said he is diabetic and has CKD 3rd stage and he is taking treatment for the same in AIIMS, New delhi.
For the pain, I would suggest you visit his treating nephrologist and inform him about that so that he can guide you further on pain management depending on the underlying cause.
Pain in both knee joints in diabetic patients can be due to obesity. Other cause can be arthritis and to know the exact cause of visiting your treating doctor is important as he might refer your father to a rheumatologist if needed.
He might advise you to get an X-ray of the knee joints done to see if its due to arthritis or not.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Manisha Auradkar, General & Family Physician
