What Does Large Bumps On Face Indicate?

We noticed a few large bumps on our friends face and were trying to find out what they were. They are not red, just flesh colored...and it seems that theyare more prevelant in older people. Are these warts or cysts? We wonder why he wouldn't have them removed?
