What Does Light Spotting During Periods While On Birth Control Indicate?

I am on a birth control pill I ve used this pill for a little over 3 years typically during my period week I have medium to heavy bleeding for 3-4 days. This month I have had very minimal bleeding for my period week, light spotting mostly. Should I be concerned about pregnancy?

HI,
I understand your concern.
If you have taken the contraceptive pill strictly as directed, without a break.. you do not have any chance of pregnancy.Decreased bleeding during menses can be a side effect of prolonged consumption of the hormonal contraceptive.
It is ideal to give a break of at least one month( while using alternative contraceptive ) after a prolonged use. THis helps in maintaining normal hormonal cycle .
