What Does Low Grade Fever With Constant Pain In Lower Abdomen Suggest?

I have had a low to moderate fever since yesterday. Tight now it s 101. I have low abdominal pain that I at first thought may be a bladder infection, but it doesn t hurt when I urinate. The pain is constant and stays in the same area immediately to the left of my belly button but a little lower. My stomach is visibly bloated and the area around the pain feels more solid. I had a laproscopic hysterectomy on 1/28 of this year but retained my ovaries. I had a bladder infection the week after discharging from the hospital. So I had some antibiotics left over. I took those last night and this morning, but the pain and fever are increasing. Recommendations?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

A low-grade fever and constant pain in the lower abdomen could suggest a urinary tract infection or an infection in the reproductive organs. However, since you had a hysterectomy, the possibility of infection in the remaining ovary or fallopian tube should be considered. It is also possible that there could be adhesions or scar tissue from the surgery causing the pain.

Since the antibiotics have not helped, it is important to seek medical attention. Your healthcare provider may recommend further testing, such as a urine culture, blood work, or imaging studies, to determine the cause of your symptoms. They may also suggest pain management options while waiting for test results.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
