What Does Mild Hyperexpansion Of Lungs In The Chest X-ray Suggest?
I had a xray of chest and it says there is mild hyperexpansion of the lungs with relative lucency in upper zones, there is coarsening of thee interstitial lung markings in mid to low zones in a reticulonodular distribution????can u explain for me please. I
1.Hyperexpantion of the lung fields with lucency in upper zones are features of emphysematous changes. 2.In acute case one can think in terms of pneumothorax - which needs immediate treatment. 3.Coarsening of the interstitial lung markings are seen in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease - COPD. 4.Generally seen in smokers. Reticulo-nodular - The thickening of the interstitium can be reticular, reticulonodular, linear where the predominant pattern is a result of the underlying pathological process. 5.At this point a course of antibiotic might help for acute infection / symptoms - if symptoms persists - computer tomography thorax will be needed.
Good luck. Hope i have answered your query, any thing to ask ? do not hesitate to ask. http://doctor.healthcaremagic.com/doctors/dr-ganesh/62888
