What Does Mild Lateral Ventricle Prominence Mean?

Dear Doctor, My wife age 37 an SLE - Nephritis patient. Detected in May 2006, since then on Stereoids. Also Beta-Thalassemia Minor. Medicines taken - Mycept s 360 BD, Calcirol, Wysolone 10mg x 3 times, Vertin 16mg BD, Diligan 25mgx3 times and other supporting medicines Folvite, Roles-D, Gelusil etc. Last one month she is having problem of rilling, giddiness,loss of balance, not able to walk. Advised MRI brain by neurologist. Latest MRI Brain says The brain sterm and cerebellum show normal image morphology in all sequences. Both lateral ventricles are prominent. 3rd and 4th ventricles are normal. Mildline structure are normal. No extra-axial fluid collection is seen. Impression - Mild lateral ventricle prominence ? cause . Please advice.

Hello

Your findings suggests mildly prominent lateral ventricles.
It may be due to many reasons like slight obstruction(may be due to infection,mass),slight over production of CSF or decreased absorption of CSF.
It is good that there is no mass or signs of infection.
Generally this is a benign finding and you may only need follow up scan.
It is important to observe its regression or increase in severity.

Other findings in brain are normal.
