What Does Minimal Reduction Of C5/6 Disc Space Mean In X-ray Report?

what does minimal reduction of the C5/6 disc space, all other disc spaces are well maintained. No atlanto/axial subluxation is seen. No other bone of joint of abnormality. These were the findings from a normal X-ray, as I have chronic pain in my buffalo hump and shoulders, so was told all ok?

Welcome to Health care magic.

The report says that there is reduced disc space between C5-6, probable cause could be degenerative disc disease. The reduced space happens when the disc looses the normal hydration looses normal height and other possible cause the disc might have moved / herniated - this can not be assessed on the x-ray.

Recommended in this case is MRI cervical spine, which is good in study of spinal chord, nerve, disc and ligaments. The pains you are experiencing is seen when there is a nerve compression.

Hope it helps you. Wish you a good health.
