Our four year old has had frequent urination this week. We took her to the dr and was given antibiotics for a uti. The doctors odd ice left a phone message this evening telling me to stop the antibiotics and it wasn t a uti. Then said it had contaminated mixed growth. What does that mean?
Hi. I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns. Mixed growth indicates that the urine sample is contaminated while collecting the sample. It contain bacteria not from the urinary tract but from the skin or the urine container itself. It is generally occurs due to improper or unsterile technique of urine collection. There is nothing tto worry regarding this and you might.require another sample if symptoms persist. You can seek assistance from a trained nurse for sample collection. Hope this information helps. Regards. Dr.Shinas Hussain.
