HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is very understandable, with your family history, to be worried about the possibility of lung cancer.
This is not as likely however in a person who has no history of smoking. In addition, if there was a lung cancer mass present, the CT scan should have detected it.

Atelectasis refers to collapse of an area of the lung. It can occur in different conditions such as : (1) foreign body in the lungs
(2)mucus plug
(3)infection

You would likely need further imaging such as an MRI or bronchoscopy (a scope looking into the lungs).

I hope this helps and wish you the best
