Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had stomach issue for a week now. First my stool was white mucus, gradually more constipated and today s small 3 gumball stool with brown mucas. I ve had radiating dull aches in my side, lower stomach, and now moved to my back all on the left side.
The presence of mucus in stool is most common sign of infectious colitis and usually it disappear spontaneously; however a large amount of visible mucus in your stool isn’t normal and might be a sign of a problem.
If you begin seeing mucus in your stool, the levels are probably already elevated. That doesn’t necessarily indicate you have a problem, but it’s something you should monitor especially if there is blood in stool or pain during defecation.
All in all, you should wait for few days, have easy diet, lot of fluids and see will it improve. If not you should do colonoscopy as a start of work up.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Iven Romic Rommstein
