What Does Muscle Pain Above The Hip On The Right Side Indicate?

i have muscle pain on my right side area above the hip, the pain gets worse at night during sleep. my primary phycian gave me tizanidine hcl 4 mg, it is very strong then he changed to methocarbamol 500 mg, it did help a little, but after a few days i start having a bad sideeffect esp. at night. i can tolerate the pain during the dad, my question: can take motrin or alive/tylenol on empty stomach after 2 am without food and which of these do you recommend?

hi, Welcome to 'Ask A Doctor ' service .I have read your question and here is my advice.
Tylenol is very safe drug, it hardly would cause any problem , so you can use it on empty stomach as well if needed. However motrin may cause gastric upset if taken on empty stomach , though not necessarily.
i would advise you can use tylenol along with some hot compression.
anther thing i would advise that backache which is more in the night should be discussed with you doctor if not relieved.
